Study and Analyze the Buddhist Context through the Sak Yant Ritual

Abstract

This academic article aims to Sak Yant ceremony in the past was a matter of belief and faith that was linked to Buddhism with the nature of the Sak Yant ceremony . It started from reciting the incantation from a master monk, passed on to a monk who worked as a tattoo artist and passed on to a layman tattoo artist in which the context of the Sak Yant  ceremony of Bang Phra Temple, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province. It was started by a famous master monk in the name of “Luang Pho”, who also passed down the Sak Yant ceremony to his disciples from generation to generation. As a result, people who believe in the Sak Yant that are said about the Buddha's virtues in the Sak Yant that “Luang Por Pern” originated. Especially, the tiger pattern it became very popular and unique in that it was the name of various Buddha virtues in the Sak Yant ceremony industry and has been extended to foreign countries. But nowadays, the procedures and beliefs in the Sak Yant ceremony of Bang Phra Temple have changed according to the popular era. But the fame of the Buddha in this Sak Yant still has the magical power that those who are fascinated by the Sak Yant ceremony have come to have the Sak Yant of Bang Phra Temple, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province adorned somewhere on the body to this day.
