Abstract

AI and social media are used by digital authoritarianism to sway public opinion, disseminate false information, and erode democratic processes. This study looks into how these technologies skew public discourse and undermine confidence in democratic institutions. The finding found that the increasing prevalence of AI in authoritarian regimes emphasizes the technology's potential to erode democratic principles and freedoms. The continuous conflict between democratic integrity and digital authoritarianism highlights the necessity of international cooperation in the defense of human rights. Stakeholders must establish moral standards and laws to guarantee that AI developments uphold democratic values rather than undermine them.
