Promoting Public Participation in Disaster Management of the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract

The objectives of this research article are 1) to study the level of public participation in disaster management of Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, 2) to study the relationship between Buddhist principles and public participation in disaster management. Disaster management 3) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions for ways to promote public participation in disaster management. It is a mixed research method. between quantitative research and qualitative research in quantitative research the sample group consisted of 400 people in the area of Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization. Data were collected using a questionnaire and data analysis using statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. and the f-test for qualitative research by in-depth interviews with key informants, 9 photos/person. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques.

The results of the study showed that, 1) the level of promoting public participation in disaster management of Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, namely the principle of the Aparaniya Dharma. Overall, it was at the highest level. and the promotion of people's participation in all 4 areas, overall, at the highest level. Positive at statistically significant at the 0.01 level. 3) Problems Obstacles It was found that lack of participation in the use of buildings or physical structures to reduce or avoid the impact of potential hazards. Lack of participation in the survey of risk points within the community. and prepare manpower and suggestions found that should be promoted and participated in organizing awareness-raising training. or provide knowledge in various fields to support the prevention and reduction of the impact of disaster risks.
