Factors Affecting the Participation of Elderly Individuals in the Management of Elderly Schools in Ban Krang Subdistrict, Mueang Phitsanulok District, Phitsanulok Province

Abstract

This research article aims to examine three key aspects: (1) the level of participation of older adults in the management of senior citizen schools, (2) the factors influencing such participation, and (3) the challenges, obstacles, and recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of their participation. This study employs a quantitative research methodology, collecting data from 140 senior citizens who are members of a senior citizen school in Ban Krang Subdistrict, Mueang Phitsanulok District, Phitsanulok Province. Data were gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages, means, and standard deviations.

The findings reveal that: (1) the overall level of participation among older adults in the management of senior citizen schools is high, reflecting their awareness and enthusiasm for engaging in social activities; (2) key factors influencing their participation include support from family, the community, and relevant organizations, which play a crucial role in fostering engagement; and (3) the primary obstacle hindering participation is difficulty in using modern technology, which affects access to information and involvement in online activities. Based on these findings, a key recommendation is to develop support mechanisms that enable older adults to effectively access and utilize technology. Additionally, fostering collaboration among senior citizen schools, communities, and government agencies is essential to promoting sustainable participation.
