A PROPOSED CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK FOR DRAWING SKILL IMPROVEMENT FOR FURTHER STUDY PREPARATION OF HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS
Abstract
The objective of this research was to propose a curriculum framework for drawing skill improvement to prepare higher secondary students for further education. The results revealed that: the curriculum development established a learning structure aligned with students’ problems and needs. The program consists of 12 sessions, totaling 36 hours, and includes five learning units: 1) fundamentals of drawing skills; 2) rendering the texture and tonal value of objects; 3) drawing details and human anatomy structure; 4) still life composition and integrated group drawing; and 5) examination preparation and creative application of drawing skills. The sequence of learning progresses from basic to applied levels, effectively preparing students for further studies in art. This curriculum comprehensively covers essential drawing components, emphasizing the development of learners from fundamental to creative levels. Furthermore, it is consistent with the skill standards required by higher education institutions and aligns with approaches to skill development informed by the experience of instructors specializing in drawing for higher education preparation in the arts.
