Abstract

This research aimed to study 1) personal factors, 2) factors that promote behavior, and 3) self-care behavior of the elderly in Theparat Subdistrict Administrative Organization. It was a quantitative research with a sample of 234 people. A questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The hypothesis testing used t-test and F-test (One-way ANOVA) and multiple regression. The results of the research found that different personal factors such as gender, age, education level, marital status, income, chronic diseases, and family characteristics had no difference in self-care behavior. Factors that promote behavior were significantly related to self-care behavior of the elderly, including awareness of self-care, environment related to health care behavior, and social and family support at a statistical level of 0.05. This study recommends that relevant agencies and individuals should promote and support health care of the elderly, whether it be the environment, care, and cleanliness.
