THE DEVELOPMENT OF PRONUNCIATION ABILITY IN TH 11101 THAI LANGUAGE SUBJECT USING MACRO MODEL WITH GAMIFICATION FOR GRADE 1 STUDENTS
Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop pronunciation ability in TH 11101 Thai language subject using the MACRO Model with gamification for Grade 1 students. The success criteria were set such that students must achieve an average score of no less than 70% of the total score, and at least 70% of the students must meet the proficiency benchmark. The target group consisted of 12 Grade 1 students from Chumchon Ban Nong Bua School, KhonKaen Primary Educational Service Area 1, selected through purposive sampling. The research design was Action Research. The research instruments categorized into 3 categories were: 1) experiment tool, including 6 lesson plans for 12 hours, 2) reflection tool, consisting instruction records form, a teaching and student behavior observation form, a student interview form and end-of-spiral quizzes on the student’s pronunciation ability, and 3) evaluation tool consisting of the students’ pronunciation ability test. Quantitative data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, consisting arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and percentage, Qualitative data were analyzed by using content analysis. The findings revealed that the students’ average score in reading aloud proficiency was 16.50 ( = 16.50, S.D. = 2.35), equivalent to 82.50% of the total score. Additionally, 10 out of 12 students, or 83.33%, met the proficiency benchmark, which exceeded the predetermined criteria
