TACTILE COMMUNICATION FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED GROUP AND SIGHTED GROUP: A CASE STUDY OF .ONCE, A THAI LOCAL BRAND
Abstract
This research aims to develop tactile symbols that can communicate colors to both visually impaired and non-visually impaired individuals, with the goal of promoting inclusive design and reducing social segregation between the two groups. The study applies Tactile Perception Theory and Semiotics to translate colors into symbols that can be perceived through touch. A purposive sampling method was used, consisting of participants with and without visual impairments. Data were collected through structured interviews, tactile symbol tests, and behavioral observations. The expected outcome of this research is to provide insights into the effective design of tactile symbols, fostering inclusive and equitable communication of colors for all users.
