PRIORITY NEEDS FOR ESTABLISHING TEACHER ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT IN SCHOOLS UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE SAMUT PRAKAN
Abstract
This research aims to 1) examine the current and desired conditions for fostering teacher organizational commitment in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, Samut Prakan, and 2) analyze the priority needs for establishing such commitment. The study involved 293 teachers, using a 5-point rating scale questionnaire. Data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Priority Needs Index (PNI). Findings indicate that the current level of organizational commitment among teachers is generally low. Key factors, in order of importance, include opportunities for growth and advancement, a good working environment, participation in management, meaningful work, fair regulations, leadership, communication, and work-life balance. Conversely, the desired condition for commitment is rated high, with the same factors prioritized but in slightly different order. The Priority Needs Index highlights the top three areas needing improvement: 1) work-life balance, 2) communication within the organization, and 3) leadership.
