Abstract

The objective of this research was to reduce the waste in tire extruding process of the case study company. The quality control tools were used to analyze the problem. The results found that the main problem was the compound scorch in the open extruder head process. The root cause is the accumulation of heat in the rubber. Therefore, the cooling process is needed. The outcomes of the research show that the average waste before the improvement is 0.2% or 4,702.63 kg/month and 470,263 baht/month. After the improvement, the average waste is decreased to 0.039% or 851.23 kg/month and 85,123 baht/month. It is revealed that the improvement can reduce the loss in tire extruding process from 0.340% to 0.073%.
