VIDEO MEDIA FOR EXTENTION OF FERTILIZER APPLICATION ADHERING TO SOIL AND OIL PALM LEAVES ANALYSIS OF OIL PALM COLLABORATIVE FARMER IN NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE
Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study personal factors and oil palm production conditions of farmers 2) to study the needs for information extension on fertilizer application according to soil and oil palm leaves analysis 3) to study the needs design for video media 4) to develop and experiment on use of video. 5) to evaluate and study guidelines in use of video media. The population of this research was 788 farmers from oil palm collaborative farming with total number of 17 groups in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The sample size of 265 people was determined by using Taro Yamane formula with the error value of 0.05 through simple random sampling method. Data were collected by conducting interview and were analyzed by using statistics such as frequency distribution, percentage, minimum value, maximum value, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the research found that 1) 57.0% of farmers were male with average age of 57.44 years old, had average costs from chemical fertilizer application of 5,695.09 Baht/Rai/year. 2) Farmers needed to reduce production costs on production of fertilizer analysis at the highest level. 3) They needed forms of video media in both image and animation with narration in Thai underneath in a big font, used female narration voice with entertaining music and 3-5 minutes long. 4) The effectiveness found produced video was appropriate in message, information, delivery and receiving channels. 5) They suggested the video media with the rich in content should be dissect into short videos.
