GUIDELINES FOR IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT WITHIN A CHRISTIAN PLACE FOR THE DISABLED: A CASE STUDY OF ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH PATTAYA CITY

This study is qualitative research based on the concept of universal design. The research aims to identify physical and provide recommendations for the design of religious spaces, specifically St. Nicholas Church in Pattaya City. The research process consists of 5 steps 1) reviewing the literature and studying related research 2) surveying the area, making observations, and testing it out in real areas 3) summarizing internal problems and obstacles in research in the area. 4) Discussion of results among users, workers in the area, officials, and designers 5) Summary of results. The results of the research will present designs according to the principles of design for everyone and user experience design taking into account usage behavior and access to all areas. The important points found are problems with access to areas, slopes, tactile surfaces, travel routes, and appropriate distances for people using wheelchairs during religious ceremonies Including parking spots for those using wheelchairs. The solution can be achieved by adjusting the physical environment to meet standards and be consistent with usage together with solving problems with technology and management methods due to spatial limitations.
