A STUDY OF KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDES TOWARD ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES AMONG SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT THE DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL OF KANCHANABURI RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the levels of knowledge and attitudes toward electronics cigarettes and to compare knowledge and attitudes among senior high school students at the Demonstration School of Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University. The sample consisted of 217 senior high school students. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.905. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, an independent-samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. The results revealed that: 1) the students’ overall knowledge of electronic cigarettes was at a moderate level, with a mean score of 30.12 out of 43 and a standard deviation of 5.29; 2) their overall attitudes toward electronic cigarettes were at a high level, with a mean score of 3.70 and a standard deviation of 0.61; 3) students of different sexes and grade levels differed significantly in their knowledge of electronic cigarettes at the .01 level, whereas no significant difference was found among students of different ages; and 4) no statistically significant differences in attitudes toward electronic cigarettes were found among students of different sexes, ages, or grade levels at the .05 level.
