PREPAREDNESS OF THE THAILAND WOMEN'S NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR THE 33RD SEA GAMES B.E. 2568 (2025) IN THAILAND

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the preparedness of the Thailand Women’s National Football Team for the 33rd SEA Games B.E. 2568 (2025) in Thailand, and 2) examine the problems and obstacles related to team preparedness. The population consisted of 40 athletes, coaches, and team officials of the Thailand Women’s National Football Team participating in the 33rd SEA Games. Data were collected using a questionnaire, with all 40 questionnaires returned, representing a 100 percent response rate. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the overall preparedness of the Thailand Women’s National Football Team was at a high level (x̄ = 3.82, S.D. = .930). Among the five aspects examined, training and competition equipment had the highest mean score (x̄ = 3.91, S.D. = .839), followed by training facilities (x̄ = 3.88, S.D. = .925), training (x̄ = 3.85, S.D. = .900), budget and welfare (x̄ = 3.85, S.D. = 1.031), and athlete selection (x̄ = 3.62, S.D. = 1.246), respectively. Regarding problems and obstacles, the major issues concerned budget and welfare. Women’s football received less financial support than men’s football due to lower commercial value and sponsorship support, affecting the adequacy of welfare and athletes’ career security. Other limitations included the athlete selection system, athlete databases, standard training facilities, and the use of sports technology. The study recommends increasing budgetary and welfare support, developing a systematic national athlete database, and promoting the use of sports science and modern technology to enhance athletes’ potential.
