OPINIONS OF KASEM BUNDIT UNIVERSITY ATHLETES ON THE DECISION TO WORK IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR AMONG GENERATION Z
Abstract
This research aimed to study the level of opinions of Kasem Bundit University athletes toward the decision to work in the public sector among Generation Z. as well as to examine the problems and obstacles affecting such decision-making. The sample consisted of 193 Kasem Bundit University athletes. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed based on relevant concepts, theories, and related research. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were used for data analysis. The findings revealed that 1) most respondents were female, aged 19-22 years, football athletes, currently studying at the undergraduate level, with a monthly income not exceeding 10,000 baht 2) the overall level of opinion toward working in the public sector among Generation Z was at the highest level. When considering each aspect, the highest mean score was found in job security. followed by relationships with colleagues and work values respectively. The lowest mean score was in compensation and welfare. 3) Regarding problems and obstacles, respondents expressed concerns about slow career advancement, seniority-based promotion systems, inadequate compensation relative to expectations, and limited work flexibility. However, job stability and welfare benefits in the public sector remained key factors influencing the decision to work in this sector. The results of this study can be used as guidelines for improving human resource management in public sector organizations, particularly in career progression systems, compensation, and work arrangements, to better align with the needs of Generation Z.
