CREATING IDENTITY OF GENERATION Z INFLUENCERS ON TIK TOK
Abstract
This qualitative research collected data through in-depth interviews with a sample of 22 individuals. The selected participants were Generation Z influencers with 10,000 or more followers on TikTok (Micro Influencers) up to 1,000,000 or more (Mega Influencers). They were not previously involved in the entertainment industry, ensuring their follower count was generated through their own channel development. A Semi-structured questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was used for data collection. Data was collected between February 17th-June 22nd, 2026. Thematic analysis was used to summarize key points from the interview data and provide a descriptive analysis of the findings. The research concludes that most participants started their channels by unintentionally experimenting with content or without prior planning as influencers. They later went through trial and error to find their preferred approach, drawing on feedback from viewers and close acquaintances to develop their content progressively. They chose TikTok because they saw it as a growing platform, easily memorable, and a tangible way to generate supplementary income. They could present content that reflected their unique characteristics, such as showcasing talents, appearance, and fashion sense. Once they found a suitable style, they mostly maintained it.
