PARTICIPATORY PRODUCTION OF A DIGITAL GUIDEBOOK FOR PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This study aimed to develop participatory media to promote environmental knowledge for sustainability in Chiang Rai Province. A qualitative research methodology was employed using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions conducted through semi-structured interview protocols. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on the predetermined characteristics relevant to the research objectives, in conjunction with participant observation. The findings revealed that Nang Lae Subdistrict is facing an increasing volume of solid waste, highlighting the need to promote knowledge and practices related to sustainable environmental management. This led to the development of a digital guidebook on low-carbon villages, covering low-carbon practices, the principles of zero waste and the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle), an innovative approach to plastic waste conversion using pyrolysis technology, and guidelines for community-level implementation.
