THE INFLUENCE OF WORK SKILLS AND WORK MOTIVATION ON THE JOB PERFORMANCE OF PERSONNEL IN THE TARIFF CLASSIFICATION DIVISION, CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT
Abstract
This research aimed to study the levels of work skills, work motivation, and job performance, as well as to examine the influence of work skills and work motivation on the job performance of personnel in the Tariff Classification Division, Customs Department. The sample consisted of 52 personnel in the Tariff Standards Section of the Tariff Classification Division, Customs Department, using total population sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, simple linear regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that: 1) work skills, work motivation, and job performance of personnel were overall at a high level; 2) work skills had a positive influence on job performance at a statistical significance level of .05, accounting for 63.4 percent of the variance; 3) work motivation had a positive influence on job performance at a statistical significance level of .05, accounting for 69.1 percent of the variance, a greater explanatory power than work skills; and 4) when work skills and work motivation were analyzed together, they could jointly explain 77.9 percent of the variance in job performance, with work motivation having the greatest influence, followed by work skills.
