FACTORS AFFECTING ON-TIME DEBT REPAYMENT BEHAVIOR OF MOBILE PHONE CREDIT CUSTOMERS: A RETAIL STORE ABC IN BANGKOK
Abstract
This research aims to examine factors affecting on-time debt repayment behavior of mobile phone credit customers, using a retail store in Bangkok as a case study. Independent variables are classified into three groups: demographic factors, product factors, and contract factors. The sample consists of 500 hire-purchase credit customers whose contracts were completed during 2023-2024) Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression. The dependent variable is repayment behavior, classified as on-time (overdue ≤7 days) and late (overdue >7 days). Backward stepwise binary logistic regression revealed that loan tenor of 12 months (Exp(B) = 0.428, p = 0.025) and down payment amount (p = 0.026) were statistically significant predictors at the 0.05 level, with an overall classification accuracy of 72.2% and Nagelkerke R² of 0.029) The findings assist operators in developing customer screening criteria, determining appropriate credit conditions, and managing credit risk effectively.
