ASSOCIATION BETWEEN ANTERIOR TOOTH MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT INDICATORS AND NUMBER OF REFINEMENT SETS IN INVISALIGN TREATMENT

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the association between anterior tooth movement assessment indicators using the Tooth Movement Assessment (TMA) function and the number of refinement sets required during Invisalign treatment. Materials and Methods: This retrospective analytical study included 140 patients treated with Invisalign. Clinical characteristics compliance record and extraction plan were collected from treatment records. Number of refinement sets and number of anterior tooth movement indicators were obtained from ClinCheck software utilized Tooth Movement Assessment (TMA) function and classified by movement type and complexity level (moderate and advanced indicators). Poisson regression was used to evaluate the association between anterior tooth movement indicators and the number of refinement sets. Results: Moderate anterior mesiodistal root movement indicators were significantly associated with an increased number of refinement sets (p < 0.001). Advanced anterior mesiodistal root movement indicators were also significantly associated with the number of refinement sets (p = 0.012). Conclusion: Moderate and advanced anterior mesiodistal root movement indicators were significantly associated with the number of Invisalign refinement sets. These findings may help clinicians assess the tendency of refinement requirements during Invisalign treatment planning.
