EVALUATION OF SOFT TISSUE AND UPPER INCISOR CHANGES IN PATIENTS WITH CLASS III CAMOUFLAGE TREATMENT
Abstract
The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of orthodontic camouflage treatment on upper incisor position, incisal show at rest and soft tissue changes in patients with skeletal Class III relationship. The retrospective study analyzed data collected from pre-treatment and post-treatment lateral cephalometric radiographs of 28 subjects. The results showed statistically significant increases in upper anterior dental height and nasolabial angle following the treatment (P < 0.05). Furthermore, changes in upper incisor inclination were significantly correlated with both incisal show at rest and upper lip length. In conclusion, changing the upper incisor inclination during Class III camouflage orthodontic treatment requires careful consideration of its effects on the surrounding soft tissues.
