Abstract

This study aimed to examine and analyze the factors influencing successful publication in TCI Tier 1 and TCI Tier 2 journals, with reference to the context of research capacity development at Nakhon Phanom University. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including quantitative analysis of past publications. The findings revealed that the key factors affecting publication success include the quality and originality of the research, the alignment between the manuscript content and the journal’s scope, the rigor of the research methodology, academic writing skills, the researcher’s experience, the availability of mentors or academic networks, and systematic revision of manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments. In addition, institutional support factors—such as publication promotion policies, funding support systems, academic writing skill development, and advisory mechanisms—were found to play a significant role in increasing the likelihood of publication, particularly in TCI Tier 1 journals. The results of this study can be utilized as supporting information for formulating policy guidelines and measures to enhance the quality of academic outputs at Nakhon Phanom University, ensuring alignment with the university’s development goals.
