EFFECT OF CAVITY DEPTH ON COLOR MATCHING ABILITY OF DIFFERENT SHADE-SYSTEM RESIN COMPOSITES
Abstract
This study aimed to compare the effects of composite type and cavity depth on color matching ability by measuring color difference (ΔE00) using a spectrophotometer on 27 A2-shade acrylic teeth divided into 9 groups according to three composite types: Omnichroma, 3M™ Filtek™ Easy Match Universal, and Estelite Σ Quick, and three cavity depths of 1, 2, and 3 mm. Data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA, Two-Way ANOVA, and post-hoc tests (Tukey HSD and Bonferroni) at a significance level of 0.05. Composite type significantly affected ΔE00 (p<0.001), with 3M™ Filtek™ Easy Match Universal showing the lowest values (3.23±0.55), followed by Omnichroma (4.63±1.05) and Estelite Σ Quick (5.74±0.77). Cavity depth also significantly affected ΔE00 (p<0.001), with values increasing as depth increased across all composite types. A significant interaction was found between composite type and cavity depth (p=0.040), indicating that the effect of cavity depth on color matching ability differed across composite types.
