Knowledge and Readiness of Native Chickens’ Farmers in Approaching Thai Agricultural Standard for Organic Livestock at Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province
Abstract
The purposes of this research were to assess the knowledge of the native chicken farmers and to study the readiness of the native chicken farmers for the organic livestock standard of Thailand. The samples consisted of 49 farmers who live in Cha-am, Phetchaburi. Data were collected using a test form and an interview as an instrument. A data was analyzed using a data analysis software. The descriptive statistics used in this study were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings showed that most of the native chicken farmers, 42.86%, know organic livestock at a moderate level. An average score of 16.43 points out of 21 points, 6 respondents gained the highest point of 20 and 1 respondent scored the lowest point of 10 (Min. = 10, Max. = 20, Mean = 16.43, S.D. = 2.65). The results of the study on the readiness of the native chicken farmers for the organic livestock standard of Thailand found that native chicken farmers were ready for the organic livestock standards at a moderate level (Mean = 1.95, S.D. = 0.72). There was a high level in 1 topic and at a low level in another topic out of 10 topics in readiness.
