PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Step 1: Initial Screening

The editorial team will check a received manuscript to determine whether it complies with the journal's scope. Manuscripts outside the scope of the journal will be rejected. Complete or partial articles that have already appeared in other journals or websites will not be considered.

Step 2: Plagiarism Check

All submitted manuscripts will have their originality checked. Self-plagiarism is also considered plagiarism. The paper will be checked if it is appropriate for the journal and is sufficiently original and interesting. If not, the paper will be rejected without being reviewed any further.

Step 3: Peer Review

Journal of New Horizon in Higher Education employs double-blind system for peer review. Both reviewers’ and authors’ identities remain anonymous. All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by at least two experts in the fields relevant to the paper's content.

Step 4: Invitation to Reviewers

The editorial team sends invitations to appropriate reviewers who will consider the invitations against their own expertise, conflicts of interest, and availability.

Step 5: Reviews are Conducted

If accepted, the reviewers will have approximately 25 days to review the papers. The reviews are then submitted to the journal, with a recommendation to accept or reject them, or with a request for either major or minor revision before they are reconsidered. If the paper is considered to be sent back for revision, the reviewers should expect to receive a new version, unless they have opted out of further participation. However, if the reviewers only request minor changes, follow-up reviews might be done by the editorial team.

Step 6: Journal Evaluates the Reviews

The editorial team considers all the returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews are significantly different, the editorial team may invite an additional reviewer so as to obtain an extra opinion before reaching a decision.

Step 7: Acceptance/Rejection Decision

The decision to accept an article is based on the average score given by reviewers. The editorial team sends a decision email to the author including any relevant reviewer comments. The author(s) will be asked to revise the manuscript based on the reviewers’ comments or suggestions and resubmit it to the journal for another round of consideration. The revised manuscripts not adhering to the journal’s author guidelines and the reviewers’ comments without any acceptable/sufficient justification, may be rejected. If accepted, the paper is sent to production and later publication.
