Journal of Academic Information and Technology (JAIT)
The Journal’s History
The Journal of Academic Information and Technology (ISSN 2730-2199 for printed version : Vol.1 No.1 [2020]-Vol.5 No.2 [2024] ; ISSN 2821-9414 for online version) is a biannual academic journal first published in June 2020, with the objective of spreading knowledge and ideas in information science, information studies, library science, information technology, technology management, and other related fields. It aims to heighten the quality of research, to the benefit of society. It recognizes the importance of the expanding roles of academia in society, and of the development of universities towards being sources of research-based knowledge, based on works of professors, academics, researchers, and students. The current editor-in-chief is Asst.Prof. Sirilak Ketchaya, Ph.D., the current director of the Office of Academic Resource and Information Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.
Objectives
- To promote and distribute novel knowledge and ideas in the fields of information science, information studies, library science, information technology, technology management, and in other related fields
- To act as an academic medium for matters related to information science, information studies, library science, information technology, technology management, and to other related fields
Scope of Articles
The Journal of Academic Information and Technology publishes materials related to information science, information studies, library science, information technology, technology management, and to other related fields.
Types of Journal Articles
We accept 2 types of articles, namely
- Research articles, refer to articles presenting findings from original and systematic research, or novel and useful research methodologies
- Academic articles, refer to articles presenting interesting matters or novel knowledge
Publication Frequency
The Journal of Academic Information and Technology publishes in both printed and digital formats, having ISSN 2730-2199 (Printed version)and ISSN 2821-9414 (Online). The digital format can be found at https://so09.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jait_ssru
The Journal publishes biannually (every 6 months), where
the 1st issue covers the months of January-June
the 2nd issue covers the months of July-December
Peer Review
The Editorial Office will forward submitted articles to be peer-reviewed by experts in relevant fields, to ensure that the articles meet the Journal’s standards before their publication. The review process is double-blind, i.e. the names of the author(s) and of the reviewers will not be disclosed to the other party.
Number of Peer Reviewers
Each submitted article will be reviewed by 3 experts in relevant fields. After their revisions, the Editorial Office will consider whether to accept, request a major/minor revision from the author(s), or reject the article.
**The Journal has increased the number of reviewers from 2 to 3 persons, starting 1st January 2022, for articles to be published in the 3rd year of the Journal, for the January-June 2022 issue onwards.
Journal Policies
The Journal’s policies and criteria for consideration of publication of articles are as follows
- The article must be relevant to the subjects of humanities and social sciences, specifically to the fields of information science, information studies, library science, information technology, or technology management
- The article must present novel knowledge, methodology, or system
- The article must be formatted to the Journal’s specifications
- The article must not contain any form or element of plagiarism
- The article must not be previously published, and must not currently be under consideration for publication elsewhere
- The article will initially be screened by the Editorial Office for its relevance to the Journal’s objectives. There are 2 possible outcomes from the initial screening, namely
6.1 Rejection. In the case where the article does not pass the initial screening, the Editorial Office will send the author(s) a rejection letter, stating the reasons for the rejection and its recommendations
6.2 Revision. In the case where the article passes the initial screening, the Editorial Office will forward the article to 3 reviewers from relevant fields, to determine the quality of the article prior to its publication. The review process is double-blind; the reviewers’ identities will not be disclosed to the author(s), and vice versa.
6.3 After the reviewers have reviewed and assessed the article, the Editorial Office will make a decision whether to accept the article, request a major/minor revision from the author(s), or reject the publication of the article.
6.4 The Editorial Office reserves the rights to assess and make decisions whether to publish submitted articles.
Duplication and Plagiarism
The Journal of Academic Information and Technology will check for duplications and plagiarism in submitted articles. To be eligible for consideration for publication,
a submitted article must have a similarity score of below 25% using the Chulalongkorn University’s Akarawisut tool (available at http://plag.grad.chula.ac.th/). Furthermore, parts of the article similar with existing works must by appropriately referenced.
Journal’s Operational Procedure
1. Those authors who interesting in publishing their manuscript must register in the journal’s website
2. Submit the manuscript in the journal’s website
3. Pre-Screen the manuscript by the journal’s editor (within 45 days) (Rejected by Editor and issue the manuscript rejection letter)
4. Assign the peer-reviewer to the manuscript (within 7 days)
5. Review the manuscript by the peer-reviewer (within 45 days) (Rejected by Peer-Reviewer and issue the manuscript rejection letter)
6. The authors edit the article and sends it back to the editorial office (within 15 days for each required revision) (If not revised, Rejected by Editor and issue the manuscript rejection letter)
7. Check the formatting, proofreading, and referencing (if revisions are needed, return to the author for correction within 15 days for each required revision)
8. Issue the acceptance letter (Within 7 days)
9. Final proof check by the editorial office (Within 7 days)
10. Design the cover and prepare the final manuscript of the journal (Within 30 days)
11. Publish full-text journal on the journal’s website (Within 14 days)
