Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the current situation and propose participatory management guidelines for safety in educational institutions under the Bangkok Secondary Education Area Office 2. The study employed qualitative research methods to study the concept of participatory management. The total number of participants is 50 including 15 teachers, 15 students, 10 school administrators, and 10 parents. All participants were selected through the method of selecting specific samples (purposive sampling) to obtain stakeholders and direct experience in school safety. The data collection tools were in-depth interviews and focus-group discussions. Content analysis was employed to interpret the data.

The results showed that: 1) the participatory management model used in schools under the Bangkok Secondary Education Area Office is higher than 80% 2. Most schools have adopted participatory management through the establishment of a safety committee. The committee consists of administrators, teachers, students, and parents. The schools hold forums and activities that provide opportunities for all parties to express their opinions and participate in planning safety measures continuously. This has a clear positive impact on safety in educational institutions. Most schools have taken the initiative to manage safety through the establishment of safety committees with clear communication and report the safety incidents through various channels. According to this participatory management, there has been a significant increase in awareness and shared responsibility for the safety of all parties in the school and 2) building a safe and sustainable educational institution requires the participation of all sectors, especially the four main groups: executives, teachers, students and parents. Each group plays a different role in driving the success of creating a mechanism that promotes communication. The exchange of learning and joint decision-making will lead to a safe educational institution
