Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) study the level of work-related factors of professional accountants in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Sakaeo Province; 2) examine the level of work performance of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province; and 3) investigate the factors affecting the work performance of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province. The sample consisted of 186 professional accountants working in SMEs in Sakaeo Province, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple linear regression analysis.

The research findings revealed that:

Overall, the work-related factors of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province were at the highest level. When considered by dimension, knowledge and skills were at the highest level, followed by personality and characteristics at the highest level, and work environment at a high level.
The work performance of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province was generally at the highest level. By dimension, work accuracy had the highest mean at the highest level, followed by problem-solving ability at the highest level, and work speed at a high level.
The study of factors affecting work performance revealed the following hypotheses:

1) Knowledge and skills, personality and characteristics, and work environment significantly affected work accuracy of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province.

2) Knowledge and skills and work environment significantly affected work speed of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province.

3) Knowledge and skills and personality and characteristics significantly affected problem-solving ability of professional accountants in SMEs in Sakaeo Province.
