Factors affecting the Consumer Goods Index Sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand

Abstract

                      The purpose of this research was to study the factors affecting the stock prices of consumer goods index sector in  the  Stock Exchange of Thailand .             The independent variables used in this study were  Stock Exchange of  Thailand Index,Consumer Price Index, Consumer Confidence Index,  Country  Retail  Sales Index , Inflation Index ,  Interest Rate Index , Exchange Rate Index, and the stock prices of consumer goods index sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The samples used in the research were secondary data,which were collected from quantitative data sources,were sampled from January 2016 to the end of December 2021 for a total period of 72  months using  time series data (Time   Series) , which is the monthly average.                                                                                                                                                 The statistics used in the research analyzed were the multiple linear regression equations.                                                                                                         The results of the analysis found that the independent  variable  influencing  the  stock prices of consumer goods index sector in  the  Stock Exchange of Thailand at the statistical significant level of 0.05 was Country Retail Sales Index.                                                                                                                           The  R - Squared values showed that the independent variables used in the study were able to explain 25.04% of the volatility of the stock prices of consumer goods index sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
