Agro-tourism Extension in Bannongsanoh, Nongkha Sub-District, Kasetsonboon District, Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

        The objectives of this research were to 1) study economic and social data of farmers 2) study the participation of Ban Nong Sanoh community on agro-tourism 3) study potential in agro-tourism management of Ban Nong Sanoh 4) study appropriate form in agro-tourism management of Ban Nong Sanoh 5) analyze extension guideline on appropriate agro-tourism. The population of this study consisted of 2 groups: 230 people in community, the sample size of 144 people and 26 farmers who were the owner of agro-tourism business. Data were analyzed by using statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, maximum value, minimum value, standard deviation, ranking, and content analysis. The results of the research found out that (1) most of the people in the community were female, with the average age of 59 years old. They completed junior high school education, were farmers, had the average members in the household of 4.2 people, expected the increase of the income from the agro-tourism. (2) The people in the community thought that they would participate in agro-tourism management at the moderate level in the aspect of the feeling of ownership, the readiness, the benefit obtainment, the direction determination, the initiation, and the evaluation. (3 ) The people had potential in agro-tourism management at the low level regarding the management, the capacity, the service, and the attraction. 4) The form of agro-tourism management should focus on the tourism resources, marketing, and tourism service. The farmers who were owners of agro-tourism believed that they were ready for agro-tourism at the high level in tourism resources. Tourists understood the history of the tourist, the community was protective of resource, and the farmer group was strong at the highest level about the utility system maintenance. They faced with the problem in agro-tourism at the high level in the development of agricultural products. 5) They wanted to receive the tourism extension at the high level from personal media which was governmental agencies, publication media which was manuals, and electronic media which were videos and internet. The methods of the extension that they wanted were practice and field trips.
