The innovation model of "10 stories 10 reigns 10 teachings" rhyme song books to improve analytical thinking skills for Thai language in Chiang Rai high school students.

Abstract

         The research on innovation model of "10 stories 10 reigns 10 teachings" rhyme song books was aimed to raise the analytical thinking potential in Thai language of Chiang Rai high school students. It was intended to gather the teachings from works, speeches, words and guidance of the 1st-10th Thai kings and to build up the innovation rhyme song book model of 10 stories. The scope included the study on the content from royal works, speeches, words and guidance of 10 reigns,storyline telling to create the appropriate and consistent teachings, song as well as melody composing and rearranging to correspond with the teaching contents of each reign. The story was told through rhyme songs. The population used was year 1-6 high school students of Meng Rai Maharaj School, Chiang Rai. To summarize, King Rama I: sacrifice is the start of giving; King Rama II: literature leads to national development; King Rama III: religion lights up the soul; King Rama IV: advanced science brings nation’s progress; King Rama V : patience causes endurance during crisis; Rama VI : discipline makes nation grow; King Rama VII democracy establishes form nation; King Rama VIII : morality directs the nation ; King Rama IX: self-sufficiency and sharing brings great happiness; King Rama X : public mind leads the country. Information about royal duties, speeches, words and guidance was the content used for a story with characters that linked to circumstances of social, culture and custom of each reign. The completion was then arranged in the form of song that contained the rhymes and melodies to create beauty of language in order to interest and motivate students’ learning. The innovation model would be used to improve the potential of learners in critical thinking of Thai language.
