Factors affecting the quality of life development for the elderly in urban areas: case study at NakhonRatchasima Province

Abstract

          The objective of this study are: comparing factors affecting quality development the life for the elderly in urban area at NakhonRatchasima province and to study the opinions and suggestions about Factors affecting the quality of life development for the elderly in urban areas at NakhonRatchasima province. The population studied was the elderly who received a living allowance in Muang district of  NakhonRatchasima province. The sample size was determined by using the Taro Yamane formula. The sample size was 395 people. The tools for data collected are questionnaire and estimation scale method. The statistics for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, independent samples and F-test (one way ANOVA). The results showed that:

          1. Factors affecting the quality of life development for the elderly in urban areas at NakhonRatchasima province as a whole is in a high level. In order of average, from highest to lowest, as follows. Good physical condition, good living conditions. In the good emotional state Self-decision. In the aspect of interpersonal relations and social integration respectively.

          2. The comparison of factors affecting the quality of life development for the elderly in urban areas at NakhonRatchasima province, classified by gender and educational level In the overall and in each aspect No different.

        3. Suggestions about factors affecting the quality of life development for the elderly in urban areas at NakhonRatchasima province found that : Good physical conditions include eating age-appropriate foods and not harmful to health avoiding alcohol, smoking, health examinations, age-appropriate exercise and access to health information. Factors Well-being, including the elderly, can have a career to supplement their income and livelihood by relying on the children to minimum. Good emotional factors include the elderly being physically happy and not feeling lonely. He did factors of self - decision making are the elderly who have freedom of thought and express their opinions. The rational as well as being courageous to reflect ideas for family or those around him to be aware of further reasonable needs. Interpersonal factors are the elderly interaction with family members, relatives and neighbors including encouraging joint activities between the elderly, family members, relatives or neighbors and the social integration factors, which are the elderly have demonstrated their knowledge, abilities, and performances of their potential including being respected by people in the community.
