The Approaches to Management of the Student Care and Support System of Hongsonsuksa School under the Patronage of the HRH Princess Phetcharat Rajsuda Sirisopaphannawadee, under Mae Hong Son Secondary Educational Service Area Office 34

Abstract

        The purpose of research aimed to investigate the conditions, problems and approaches to management of the student care and support system of Hongsonsuksa School under the Patronage of the HRH Princess Phetcharat Rajsuda Sirisopaphannawadee, under Mae Hong Son Secondary Educational Service Area Office 34. The population and data source were 80 school administrators and teachers, Academic Year 2019 of Hongsonsuksa School under the Patronage of the HRH Princess Phetcharat Rajsuda Sirisopaphannawadee, and 12 experts with expertise in management of the student care and support system in Mae Hong Son province. The research instruments were questionnaires and interviews. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The findings of the research indicated that;

       1. On the whole, the conditions of the management of the student care and support system seemed to be at the moderate level.

        2. For the problems of the management of the student care and support system, it was found that; in terms of getting to know the students individually, a case study was not focused on getting to know the students. For student screening, not every student was screened. For the activities to promote student development, the school lacked of conducting student surveys before organizing a club/group or activities according to the interests of students. In terms of preventing and solving the problems, the moral and ethics camp was not held to promote ethics and morality in students. For transferring students, the school lacked holding the meeting to discuss together and consider student data to transfer them out of a school.

        3. In terms of the approaches to management of the student care and support system, it can be said that; for getting to know the students individually, a follow-up action should be recorded continuously, and report the overall operation to all concerned. In case of remedies, the school should transfer students out of a school. In terms of student screening, the school should encourage the teachers to gain knowledge and understandings of student screening exactly. For promoting students, the school should comprehensively write the plans/ projects or student development activities. For preventing and solving the problems, the school should weekly provide the students with student development activities to encourage them to be a virtuous person with desirable values. In terms of transferring students, the school should establish the structure and schedule for transferring students both inside and outside the school clearly.
