Aims and Scope

          Journal of International Buddhist Studies (JIBS) is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original academic articles that foster dialogue and understanding among Buddhist scholars worldwide. It serves as a platform for disseminating innovative and impactful research, promoting academic rigor, and intellectual inquiry within Buddhist studies.

          The scope of JIBS encompasses a wide range of topics related to Buddhism, including philosophy, psychology, ethics, meditation, mindfulness, social engagement, interfaith dialogue, and the intersection of Buddhism with other disciplines such as science, psychology, and education. JIBS welcomes submissions from researchers, scholars, and practitioners from around the world on topics including:

            Buddhist Practices on Mental Health and Well-being
                  This topic explores how Buddhist teachings and practices align with scientific findings and psychological theories, offering insights into mindfulness, meditation, and the effects of Buddhist practices on mental health and well-being. 

            Buddhist Principles in Social Engagement and Ethical Decision-making
                  This area examines how Buddhist teachings can address social and environmental issues, promoting compassion, sustainability, and social justice. It explores topics such as engaged Buddhism, Buddhist perspectives on environmental ethics, and the role of Buddhist values in shaping ethical leadership and decision-making processes. 

            The Concept of Buddhist Wisdom
                  Buddhist knowledge is collected, analyzed, synthesized, and compared among various wisdom traditions with an emphasis on Buddhist knowledge contained in the Tripitaka Buddhist scriptures to further Buddhist insights and practice.

Type of Published Article

Article: The Journal of International Buddhist Studies accepts manuscripts on all areas related to Buddhist Studies but priority is given to articles that relate to the lived experience of Buddhism in the modern world. Topics related to Buddhist aesthetics, philosophy, ethics, sacred literature, rituals, meditation, and the social sciences are particularly welcome. JIBS takes an international approach and accepts topics covering the broader world of Buddhism. Please note that articles that are extremely technical and extensively use highly specialized terms confined to one discipline may not fit the JIBS readership. The length of articles tends to be 5,000 to 8,000 words. Photos, figures, and charts are encouraged when they enhance understanding of the article’s theme.

Publication Frequency
JIBS is regularly published twice a year in June and December.

Language
All articles must be written in English. Authors are encouraged to use clear and concise language and maintain proper grammar and spelling throughout their submissions.

Article Publishing Charges (APCs) 
There is NO FEE OR CHARGE in any stage of the publication process.

Open Access Policy
JIBS is dedicated to offering open access to its articles, enabling unrestricted access to research for the public.

Authors can choose the CC BY license, enabling broad reuse and distribution permissions. JIBS supports posting articles on third-party repositories while complying with institutional and funding requirements. Author guidelines provide detailed information on copyright and licensing obligations, empowering authors with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities. Revenue Sources 
JIBS receives institutional support from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and other academic institutions, helping us with administrative and technological requirements. We may display relevant advertisements that preserve content integrity. Grants, sponsorships, and donations from aligned entities support special issues and conferences. It is important to note that our revenue sources do not influence editorial decisions. We prioritize affordability, accessibility, and publishing standards, ensuring transparency throughout our operations.

Advertising
JIBS ensures transparency and integrity by following a clear advertising policy. We consider relevant and appropriate advertisements related to academic conferences, educational programs, and research tools. The decisions about ads are made by the editorial board or an advertising committee based on their relevance and quality. Importantly, these advertisements do not influence editorial decisions, ensuring the scientific quality of the manuscripts. Advertisements are displayed separately from the published content, clearly distinguished, and placed in designated sections. They are not linked to specific content or reader behavior and are selected based on relevance rather than displayed randomly. JIBS values professionalism, ethics, and the separation of advertising from scientific content, maintaining editorial independence and preserving the integrity of the articles.
