Abstract

This research aims to study 1) Buddhist philosophy concept, 2) Buddhist philosophy concept for health development, and 3) analysis of Buddhist philosophy approach and health development. This study employed a qualitative research design. The scope and analytical framework were grounded in the Buddhist philosophical concept of the Four Wheels (Cakka 4) and the Buddhist-based well-being development approach, with the objective of constructing a conceptual framework for Buddhist-based well-being development. The data sources consisted of primary documents and secondary documents relevant to Buddhist philosophy and well-being development. Documentary analysis was conducted with a focus on synthesizing principles and practices related to Buddhist-based well-being development in order to generate proposed guidelines for such development. The credibility and presentation of the research findings were ensured through the application of Buddhist-based conceptual foundations, internal consistency of the proposed model, empirical support derived from documentary evidence, and value-based presentation emphasizing ethical and holistic dimensions of well-being.

The findings indicate that Buddhist-based well-being development constitutes a holistic process of human development that systematically integrates Buddhist principles with everyday life practices. By adopting the Four Wheels (Cakka 4) as the conceptual foundation (Input) and implementing processes involving behavioral cultivation, mental training, and the development of supportive social relationships (Process), the approach leads to balanced and sustainable well-being across four dimensions: physical, mental, social, and intellectual (Output). This newly developed body of knowledge demonstrates a clear causal relationship between Buddhist practice and transformations in both internal and external aspects of human well-being, and can be examined through both conceptual analysis and empirical reflection derived from personal practice. Accordingly, ethical well-being grounded in Buddhist principles is not merely an outcome of good health, but a life value that shapes individuals to live with mindfulness, wisdom, and non-harm, forming a foundational basis for genuine and sustainable well-being in society.
