Strategic Leadership Affecting Academic Administration Competencies among School Principals Under Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract

The purposes of this research were as follows: 1) to study the levels of strategic leadership among school principals; 2) study the level of academic administration competencies of school principals; 3) to identify relationships between strategic leadership and effective academic administration competencies among school principals ; 4) to examine the levels of strategic leadership affecting academic administration competencies among school principals under the Buriram Primary Educational Service Area, Office Two. The sample consisted of three hundred and forty-one principals and teachers employed in schools under the Buriram Primary Educational Service Area, Office Two, and using stratified random sampling. The instruments used for data collection included a five- point rating scale questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was at 0.95. The data analysis was performed by mean, standard deviation, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis-enter method.
The research findings are summarized as follows:
1) The level of strategic leadership among school principals as a whole was at high level; 2) the level of academic administration competencies of school principals as a whole was at high level; 3) there was a statistically significant positive relationship of 0.01 between strategic leadership and academic administration competencies of school principals. The Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r)=0.824 showed that the two variables had a relationship at a high level; and 4) strategic leadership affected academic administration competencies of school principals, with a predictive power of 80.40 and a 0.05 level of statistical significance. The prediction equations could be written as follows: determining formulation is Z’ y =0.424(Z X4 ) + 0.215(Z X5 ) + 0.157(Z X1 ) + 0.136(Z X3 ) + 0.092(Z X2 ).
