Developing The Performance Potential of Village Headmen in Muang Tak District, Tak Province

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) Examine the capacity of village headmen in performing their duties in Mueang Tak District, Tak Province, and 2) Explore policy-oriented approaches to develop the capacity of village headmen in the same area. This study is quantitative in nature. The sample group consisted of 318 individuals, determined using Taro Yamane’s sample size table. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using statistical methods such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

The research findings showed that the overall level of respondents’ opinions was at the highest level. When analyzed by individual aspects, the highest average score was found in the area of duty performance, followed by communication and participation, morality and ethics in duty performance, and continuous training and development, respectively. The policy recommendations for developing the performance capacity of village headmen should focus on enhancing their educational qualifications and skill development. Policy formulation significantly influences the effectiveness of their duties. The refore, training programs should be organized to provide village headmen with legal knowledge related to their official responsibilities. This will not only enable them to perform their duties more efficiently, but also help them apply the acquired knowledge in offering preliminary legal advice to the public more effectively.
