A Context Analysis of Luang Namtha Teacher Training College in Preparing to be upgraded to an Institution

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current situation and the necessary needs including internal and external factors effecting the preparation of Luang Namtha Teacher Training College to become an institution. The samples used in this study were 134 academic personnel at Luang Namtha Teacher Training College. The data analysis uses statistical program. The data is presented in the form of means, percentages, and standard deviations.


The study revealed that most of the sample had an average age of 25-36 years old with a bachelor's degree. In order to be upgraded into an institution, there are the readiness in terms of the infrastructure, organizational structures, and facilities of Luang Namtha Teacher Training College. However, in terms of academic personnel, there are still insufficient qualifications for teaching standards in diploma, bachelor, and master programs. The personnel themselves need self-development to have higher qualifications and expertise. The development of teachers' qualifications requires a large budget and requires cooperation from many sectors both within and outside the country. The key issue is to formulate an organizational development strategy in order to set a clear direction for upgrading into an institution.
