The Tourism Economic Benefits and Student’s Participation in Organizing the International Rugby Football Tournament to Promote Songkhla Tourism

Abstract

       The study aims to study the satisfaction of participants in the tournament, the tourism demand and tourism economic benefits from the event and to investigate students’ opinions and level of participation in organizing an international rugby football tournament. The 2 groups of samples were 225 participants in the international rugby tournament during August 19-21, 2022 and 68 students. The questionnaires were used to collect data from Participants of sporting events and students organizing sporting events. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t – test
       The study found that the participants in the international rugby tournament satisfied with the overall arrangement of the tournament at the highest level and the level of the tourism demand and tourism economic benefits from the event, the tourism demand in Songkhla Province was found that there was a demand for beach, old town and walking street respectively. The economic benefits from this event were that the average cost per person was 5,366 baht.
       The level of students' opinions towards overall participation was at the highest level. Students' opinions on the overall benefits of rugby football were at the highest level. Especially the integration of student collaboration between programs. The overall level of opinions about participation in organizing rugby football matches was at a high level, especially participating in the operation of the sport event. Comparison of tourist demand for Songkhla tourism, classified by individual factors indicated that the statistically significant difference of Songkhla tourism demands was found in different genders at 0.05 level.
