Developing a Program to Calculate Safe Flammable Refrigerant Charge in Rooms to Ensure Human Comfort and Safety
Main Article Content
Abstract
Natural refrigerants with flammable properties are emerging as alternative refrigerants to replace conventional ones due to their environmental friendliness. They have zero Global Warming Potential (GWP), zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), and high cooling efficiency at reduced charge conditions. However, for human safety in using these refrigerants, several factors must be considered. Researchers have compiled relevant factors to create a program for calculating the amount of flammable refrigerant that is safe and comfortable for human use. The program covers the Lower Flammability Limit (LFL) of each flammable refrigerant, the type of dwelling, and the type of air conditioner. Once the user provides complete information, the system will automatically calculate and display the results immediately. Once this program is created, users can accurately and precisely design the charging amount of flammable refrigerants, referencing the Institute of Refrigeration Safety Code of Practice for A2 and A3.
