Abstract

The belief that a stupa represents the Buddha is considered sublime and sacred, the highest object of veneration, and the spiritual center of the community. This has led the people of Lanna to be very meticulous in its
construction, adhering primarily to Buddhist principles but also incorporating local beliefs, wisdom, Brahmanical concepts, and various artisanal skills to make the stupa auspicious for both the temple and the community. Furthermore, the s
tupa is seen as a powerful, sacred force, surpassing all others. Once completed, it becomes another public sacred space where everyone can worship with pride, following traditions and practices preserved in ancient Lanna scriptures.
