Abstract

This article The research aims to analyses the chanting book for religious precepts observance and meditation practice, Khun Khong Temple, Hang Dong, Chiangmai.

Analysis result reviewed that this book was
transcribed in 1914 by Phra Naratha Bhunyadhikha, a former
abbot of Khun Khong Temple. The contents in this book are
devided into three parts. The first part decribes the practice of the ancient Lanna meditation in the 25th buddhist century. The second part is about the Trilaksana teachings, the Five Buddhist Precepts, the Eight Buddhist Precepts, the Five Buddhist Yeyyadhama Doctrines, the Charana, the Four Noble Truths, the Sabbhathan, the Five Niworanadhama, the Ten Defilements and the Three Defilements. The third part is about chanting, which is assumed to be influenced by Vajrayana Buddhism, such as, sin removing chant and teachings of the Sabbhathan or known as a great merit making. Self-sacrifice is one of the Subbhathan merit making that can accumulate merit to attain further enlightenment as the Lord Buddha.
