The Management of Adolescence’s Emotion

Abstract

Adolescence is a very important age. Because it is the age of the transition between childhood and adulthood. There is physical, emotional, social and intellectual development. It is a period that requires many aspects of adjustment. It may be emotion and mental problem. Therefore, there is a tendency to develope emotional problem which is a reaction to that emotion easily. These emotions are one of the factors that lead to the behavior problems.


Emtion management according to the principles of psychology, it is started by awareness after that it's dealing with emotion, knowing what is the trigger and to cope with the stimulus such as relaxation technique, thought changing and  to think for reducing or alleviating anger.


The management of emotion in daily life according to the Buddhist Dhamma, namely Mindfulness, Khanti and Metta, consisted of Yonisomanasikara. The process is started when bad emotion is appeared must be conscious that we are feeling and considerate (Yonisomanasikara) regarding the disadvantages of that emotion. The Khanti is not to be burn out.  Metta is a wishful thinking towards those who make  us  to be bad emotion. By this way, we will be calmed or suppressed. The mindfulness training is a way to control, relieve, and get rid of bad emotion. Although they  are not able to completely get rid of bad emotion, it is only calm down, they have daily life with less suffering.
