This research article aimed to: 1) examine the use of innovations to reduce educational inequality; 2) evaluate the effectiveness of innovations implemented to reduce educational inequality; and 3) propose a model or management approach for educational innovation suitable for reducing educational inequality within the context of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surat Thani–Chumphon. This study employed a mixed-methods research design. The quantitative sample consisted of 404 school administrators and teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surat Thani–Chumphon, selected through multi-stage sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative component involved in-depth interviews with 10 school administrators and a focus group discussion with 10 experts. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis.
The results revealed that: 1) schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surat Thani Chumphon have implemented innovations to reduce educational inequality in three dimensions: service innovation, process innovation, and network innovation. The most widely implemented innovations include the student support system, participatory management, and collaboration with external network partners; 2) the overall effectiveness of innovations aimed at reducing educational inequality was at a high level, with network innovation showing the highest mean score, followed by service innovation and process innovation; and 3) the appropriate management approach for educational innovation in reducing educational inequality in this context consists of area-based participatory management, data-based decision-making, contextual flexibility, and the development of collaborative network ecosystems. These approaches can enhance educational access, reduce educational disparities, and promote sustainable educational equity.
