The Management of Scout Activities by School Administrators under the Pathumwan District Office, Bangkok

Abstract

This research aimed to study the management of scouting activities and the development guidelines for school administrators under the Pathumwan District Office, Bangkok. A mixed methods research design was employed. The sample consisted of 103 administrators and teachers, along with 6 outstanding school administrators in scouting activities, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.

The findings revealed that the overall level of scouting activity management among school administrators was at the highest level, particularly in planning, evaluation, and motivation. Coordination followed, while resource allocation was rated the lowest. This reflects strengths in strategic leadership but also highlights limitations in budgeting and resource support. For development, it is recommended that planning and resource allocation be contextually appropriate, teacher needs be assessed prior to implementation, and joint planning between administrators, teachers, and stakeholders be encouraged. Furthermore, community involvement should be promoted, and clear, contextually relevant evaluation criteria should be established.
