The evaluation focuses on assessing basic medical science knowledge in the first step of the examination. This study aims to 1) assess factors influencing the passing criteria of knowledge and skills in practicing medicine, step 1, 2) study factors affecting passing the comprehensive knowledge examination, step 1, and 3) explore the relationship between the results of the comprehensive knowledge examination and the evaluation of knowledge and skills in medical practice. The retrospective analysis of medical students admitted from 2018-2020, totaling 500 individuals. Data will be collected from the medical education organization's database for comparison with the exam results in Step 1.
The result shows that out of the total candidates who took the exam for the first time (498 individuals), distributed among academic years 2018 (162 individuals), 2019 (166 individuals), and 2020 (170 individuals), there was a statistically significant correlation between attaining an average grade of ≥ 3.5 in the third year and completing undergraduate studies with passing the criteria for knowledge and skills in medical practice and the comprehensive knowledge examination in step 1. The average grade of ≥ 3.5 in the third year and successful completion of undergraduate studies correlate with passing the criteria for knowledge and skills in medical practice and the comprehensive knowledge examination in step 1.
