Factors influencing Participation in Corn Seed Production Project in the Contract Farming System, Phrao District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to 1) study the level of farmers' participation in the corn seed production project in the contract farming system. 2) study the factors affecting farmers' participation in the corn seed production project in the contract farming system. 3) study Problems and obstacles of farmers participating in the corn seed production project in the farmer contract farming system, Phrao District, Chiang Mai Province. It is quantitative research. There is a group of 169 farmers registered with the Phrao District Agriculture Office. Data collection using questionnaires and data analysis using statistics, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and test the hypotheses using multiple linear regression analysis.

The results of the study found that, 1) studied the level of farmers' participation in the corn seed production project in the contract farming system. The average value was at a moderate level. 2) Factors influencing farmers' participation in the corn seed production project in the agricultural system. When considering five independent variables that have a positive effect, namely gender, age, status, and number of workers in agriculture. and channels for receiving information There is a statistically significant relationship at the 0.01 level, while the educational level and capital used for agriculture There is a negative statistical relationship. Significant at the 0.01 level, in which all 14 independent variables were able to predict changes in the dependent variable, namely farmers' participation in the corn seed production project in the Agricultural System, 52.7 percent (R2 = 0.527). 3) Farmers' obstacles. 1.Returns Farmers view that the purchasing price of produce from the company focuses on producing quantity rather than quality. 2. Social acceptance The number of company officials is not sufficient to take care of them. 3. Reliability Farmers have a misunderstanding and misunderstanding of seed quality criteria and are biased towards the company and 4. Environmental aspects. Agriculture views that the use of chemicals is expensive and has direct and indirect effects on the environment.
