Development of an Electronic Book (E-Book) on Physical Characteristics of Asia for Mathayomsuksa 1 Students at Wat Santithum School, Mueang Nakhon Sawan District, Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to develop and find the efficiency of an e-book on Physical Characteristics of Asia for Mathayomsuksa 1 students according to the 80/80 criteria; 2) to compare the learning achievement before and after learning with an e-book; and 3) to study the satisfaction of students towards an e-book. This was an experimental research with a One Group Pre-test Post-test Design. The sample group was Mathayomsuksa 1 students, Room 2, Wat Santithum School, Semester 1, academic Year 2022, totaling 30 people, who were selected by simple random sampling using the classroom as the sampling unit. The research instruments were 1) an e-book on Physical Characteristics of Asia of Mathayomsuksa 1 students, totaling 5 books, 2) a pre- and post-test on Physical Characteristics of Asia for Mathayomsuksa 1 students, totaling 30 items, and 3) a questionnaire on student satisfaction towards an e-book on Physical Characteristics of Asia for Mathayomsuksa 1 students in the form of a rating scale with 15 items. The quality of the instrument was found to have a reliability value of 0.96. The statistics used in data analysis were mean, percentage, standard deviation, and test statistics. The research results found that 1) the results of the development of an e-book had an overall efficiency (E1/E2) of 87.70/86.47, which was higher than the set criteria of 80/80, 2) the results of the comparison of learning achievement before studying had an average value ( = 21.97, S.D. = 1.87) and after studying had an average value ( = 27.37, S.D. = 1.69). It was found that the post-learning score was significantly higher than before learning at a statistical level of .05, 3) the results of the study of students' satisfaction towards an e-books showed the highest overall satisfaction (= 4.65, S.D. = 0.48).
