The Development and Efficiency Evaluation of the Instructional Module on Energy Conservation Focusing on Preparation and Production of Compressed Air Topic

Abstract

The current study aims to develop and evaluate the efficiency of an instructional module on “Energy Conservation focusing on Preparation and production of compressed air”. The course specification is based on the 2014 Curriculum for the High  Certificate of Vocational Education (Mechanical Technology Program), supervised by Office of Vocational Education Commission. The comparison of learning achievement in terms of scores in pre-test and post-test of students was measured.

The sample frame was identified as 34 first-year vocational secondary students under an Mechanical Technology program at Bangkeawfa Industrial and Community Education College. These students were enrolled in the 3100-0104 “Pneumatic and hydraulics” course. They have never taken any courses on Pneumatic and hydraulics , and Preparation and production of compressed air. The course instructor had entered and passed a relevant training on “The Expanded Program to Support Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy for the Office of Vocational Education Commission.”    

As results, the percentage of total average score of efficiency from the module test was 80.59/80.15, which was higher than the specified criteria set at 80/80. When comparing the mean achievement of the students, there was significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The post-test scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores (p < .01).
