Ethics Promotion Based on Gharàvàsa Dhamma of the Police Lance Corporal Students in the Provincial Police Training Center 3

Abstract
The objectives of this research article were 1) to study opinions towards the ethics promotion of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3; 2) to compare opinions towards the ethics promotion of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3 classified by personal factors; and 3) to present guidelines for ethics promotion based on Gharavasa-dhamma of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3. It was a mixed methods research. For quantitative research, questionnaires were distributed to the sample group by simple random sampling among 260 police officers, Class 12, the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3. The statistics used in the research were percentage, mean, standard deviation, T test, F test and one-way analysis of variance and in terms of qualitative research, in-depth interviews with 9 informants were conducted using content analysis techniques and context. The results of the research were as follows: 1) opinions towards the ethics promotion of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3 towards promoting ethics, overall, were at the highest level ( = 4.59, S.D.=0.40). When classified by aspect, it was found that ethics to the people (
= 4.67, S.D.= 0.45), ethics to the law (
= 4.64, S.D.= 0.45) and ethics to oneself (
= 4.43, S.D.= 0.53), respectively; 2) the opinion comparison results towards the ethics promotion of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3 were found that the police sergeant students with different age, status, educational level had no different opinions. Therefore the research hypothesis was rejected; and 3) to present guidelines for promoting ethics of the police sergeant students in the Provincial Police Training Center Region 3, namely Sacca (honesty): keeping the truth and honesty, Dama (firmness): training of restraint and control of anger, Khanti (tolerance): enduring hardships, being strong, diligence and Caga (sacrifice): having a sacrifice, giving up passions and personal interests.
